Dispensing Optician – Farmington
POSITION: Farmington – Dispensing Optician
DEPARTMENT: Farmington Optical
REPORTS TO: Farmington Office Manager
SUMMARY: The Dispensing Optician is responsible for providing patients with professional service by evaluating prescriptions and making appropriate recommendations to serve the patient’s visual requirements.

- American Board of Opticianry Certification (preferred)
- At least two years training experience as a Certified Optician or equivalent. Proficient in basic math skills.
- Ability to work with the public.

- Possess excellent telephone manner.
- Deliver a high level of customer service.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills
. II. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, squatting or kneeling, bending. Frequent lifting of 10 pounds or less, occasional lifting of 11-50 pounds. Frequent pushing or pulling of 12 pounds or less, occasional pushing or pulling of 13-100 pounds.
- Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception)
- Sense of sound (normal range of hearing)
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (gloves, face mask, eye shield, gown)
III. POSITION DUTIES
Perform other duties as assigned.
Assist and/or advise patients with personal frame and lens selection.
Verify Vision Insurance eligibility, if eligible, create claim for payment.
Place eyeglass order in computerized system to be sent to lab for processing.
Ensure that the patient is notified when their eyeglasses are available and if necessary, place in the mail.
Assist in the maintenance of optical frame stock and accessories.
Provide support in adjusting and repairing patient eyeglasses.
Field and follow up on telephone calls from patients with inquiries about eyeglasses.
Ensure that any defective stock is returned to the Inventory Manager for credit.
Troubleshoot eyeglass problems including verifying Rx for accuracy with lensometer.
Assist in the upkeep of the waiting room.
Assist in other departments as needed.
Ophthalmic Technician
JOB TITLE: OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT
REPORTS TO: CLINIC MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY: The Ophthalmic Assistant will demonstrate consistent and efficient quality patient preparation for the physician exam and will contribute to overall team performance while achieving consistent positive patient experiences. The Ophthalmic Assistant will provide assistance to the physician and the patient in a compassionate, professional manner.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Collect information from the patient and enter into a computerized record management system.
- Perform a variety of testing procedures with and for patients.
- Assist the physician with minor office procedures.
- Perform vision screenings.
- Process prescriptions.
- Triage patient telephone calls.
- Other duties as assigned.

Patient Services Representative
JOB TITLE: Patient Service Representative (PSR)
REPORTS TO: Administrative Services Manager
JOB SUMMARY: The Patient Services Representative will demonstrate consistent, quality service traits achieving positive patient experiences. The Patient Services Representative will provide compassionate, professional assistance to our patients throughout the check-in and check-out process as well as provide skilled services in conjunction with our billing department to effectively and efficiently process charges and claims.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS
- Assist patients with check-in and check-out process.
- Generate schedules for the following day and prep for insurances, patient’s addresses, and making sure patient was scheduled correctly if follow up.
- Ensure patient paperwork is completed and signed.
- Accept payments from patients.
- Schedule appointments.
- Other duties as assigned.

Pre-operative/Recovery RN: Per Diem

SUMMARY:
The Pre-operative/Recovery RN is a health professional who is an integral part of the team of practitioners providing care to pre-operative and post-operative patients in an outpatient setting. The RN works within a team of professional and technical staff to ensure that the patient environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that procedures and processes are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The RN provides relevant and appropriate education for the patient and care providers throughout the pre-operative and post-operative periods.
POSITION DUTIES
A. Performs thorough nursing assessment throughout the patient’s pre- and post-operative care
- Must display comprehensive and current knowledge of general nursing theory and practice including basic disciplines relating to nursing such as bio-psycho-, social and medical sciences and their application to nursing and patient care.
- Must display knowledge of the underlying principles of treatment and nursing procedures. Skilled in patient-population age-based competencies to include fluid and nutritional requirements, skincare, body organ status, mobility status, comprehension, cognitive skills, healing restrictions, and psycho-social needs.
- Complete knowledge and understanding of peri-operative nursing care in the freestanding ambulatory surgery unit.
B. Performs Safe Medication Administration
- Current knowledge on the actions and side effects of pharmaceuticals, agent’s effects, and reversal agent effects.
- Administers medication following 5 rights and with aseptic technique.
- Competent in technical skills including IV Therapy and cardiac monitoring.
- Assists in control of inventory, drugs, supplies and equipment.
- Assists in inventory management and control of narcotic substances.
C. Maintains a safe environment for patients and personnel.
- Ensures measures to provide safe and adequate care and transportation of patients.
- Monitors utilization and care of physical plant, supplies, and equipment to provide for cleanliness and operational ability at all times.
- Meets regulatory guidelines surrounding fire safety, medication safety, and sharps use.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the application of the OSHA blood-borne pathogens standards to the workplace.
- Must be able to maintain patient and facility confidentiality.
- Must possess demonstrated communication skills, which indicate the ability to be successful at counseling and teaching.
- Knowledge of the organizations mission plans for improvement, policies, procedures, standards, goals and objectives, cost containment activities, and emergency and biomedical standards.
Requirements
I.QUALIFICATIONS
A. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice in Maine. Bachelor’s of Science in nursing preferred.
B. BCLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
C. Minimum of 2 years nursing with medical/surgical or equivalent experience.
II. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Good general physical health required due to long periods of standing, walking, and lifting work. Must be well coordinated and have full mobility. Dexterity necessary.
B. This position often exerts 25lbs of force, occasionally exerts up to 75lbs of force. Occasionally stooping, crouching, kneeling, overhead reaching, below level reaching, lifting and carrying a maximum of 50lbs.
C. Visual and audio acuity as needed to meet job performance required, including paper and computer screens. Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly. Must be able to listen and direct.
D. Must be able to respond to challenging situations with emotional stability. Must be able to demonstrate skill in organization of multiple tasks.
E. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations.
